Meet Dream Girl, Savannah

Meet Dream Girl, Savannah

Meet Savannah Anand-Sobti, a long-time SISTER, and dream girl we are so lucky to call a friend.

A colleague of ours in the Melbourne Fashion world, Savannah is a programmer for the Melbourne Fashion Festival and responsible for some of the funest fashion week events we’ve had the pleasure of attending!

Whilst MFF is her day to day, Savannah has truly found true happiness in the creation of her passion project, Ladies of Leisure.
LOL for short, Ladies of Leisure is a Melbourne-based Zine, online publication and collective of creatives who celebrate vision, creativity, and vulnerability. LOL offers profiles of local women who embody the group’s vision, as well as workshops to build excitement and experience to those who are willing to learn more.

Since the pandemic, Sav has found comfort in ceramics, setting healthy boundaries and indulging in nostalgic tunes to keep spirits high.

Most recently, we were delighted to have Sav model for us in a content shoot here in Melbourne shot by Ellie King. We were able to sit down with Sav at the shoot and ask her some of our favourite dream questions below…

What does work mean to you and what do you do?
I am a programmer for Melbourne Fashion Festival - meaning I curate and plan events. I find my work really fulfilling and fun. I hope everyone eventually finds a role they enjoy and feel good at. Which is essentially what lead me to create my passion project, Ladies of Leisure.

Where did you grow up? and what brought you to Melbourne?
Singapore! I love it there so much. The food, the daily swims, the malls, the genuinely multicultural vibe, and the close proximity to other countries. I ended up in Australia because my whole family moved to Melbourne when I was 15 for my Dad's work and I haven't moved since!
What do you do to unwind?
“Ceramics was my 2020 lockdown lover. I still love it but I have since then gotten a dog so going for big walks all around Northcote after work is now my daily vibe. Otherwise, I really enjoy sitting on my porch with a tinny or listening to Table Manners whilst cooking. The simple life."
How do you keep a healthy mind, body and soul?
I think creating boundaries and making time to enjoy being alone helps keep me feeling good and grounded.

What things can you not get through a Melbourne summer without?
Well firstly a fan because your room always gets so bloody hot! Swims are obviously essential, plus short shorts and halter tops.

The first album you ever bought is…?
“I feel like it was a 'so fresh' album. Probably featured Shania Twain/TATU/Black Eyed Peas."
What are you listening to on repeat at the moment?
Anything Wizkid I'll rinse and repeat.
